Energy StarENERGY STAR, the government’s best-known energy savings program, lists numerous tools for energy management best practices for buildings and other facilities. Use the Energy Program Assessment Matrix to see how you measure up to ENERGY STAR guidelines.

ENERGY STAR’s Industrial Energy Management Information Center: A resource for industrial energy managers looking for information on corporate energy management, and also contains energy savings information tailored to industries or focused on specific plant utility and process improvements.

The Industry Energy Efficiency Clearinghouse, developed by Alliance to Save Energy, includes a PowerPoint presentation on industrial steam efficiency as well as a brochure on how to reduce the industrial natural gas bill.

Manufacturing PlantsThe U.S. Department of Energy’s guide for manufacturers, Manufacturing Plants: An Overview of Energy Use and Energy Efficiency Opportunities, provides key tips for one of the most energy-intensive industries.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Lean and Energy Management Toolkit provides businesses with a model for eliminating waste, maximizing environmental benefits and streamlining environmental processes that help manufacturers save energy and money. Energy Efficiency Pays: A Guide for the Small Business Owner (pdf) instructs small business owners on multiple methods for saving money and is published by American Public Power Association and the Association of Small Business Development Centers.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service’s energy estimator tools are designed to increase energy awareness in agriculture and to help farmers and ranchers identify where they can reduce their energy costs.

The Energy Information Administration is the independent statistic arm of the U.S. Department of Energy. This site includes an array of reports and analyses for commercial buildings, residential end-use electricity consumption and forecasts.
