Seasonal Electricity Usage
YES WE CAN save energy and money. This photo shows seasonal electricity usage in my own home. All of the changes we have made have been inexpensive and convenient. Here’s a list of a few of the things we have done:
Plant shade trees on the east, south and west sides of the house and evergreens on the northwest. Replace frequently used light bulbs with CFL or LED bulbs. Install (and use!) a programmable thermostat. Clean the furnace and AC heat exchangers every year. Turn off whatever we aren’t using at the moment. Install low volume toilets. Install high efficiency appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher). And, most important of all: THINK every time we do something that uses energy – how can I do this more efficiently.
