Incentives and Rebates
Virginia residents and businesses can offset energy-efficiency upgrade costs with federal, state, and provider incentives. Federal incentives may allow you to reduce federal income tax payments. Virginia Natural Gas – Smart Thermostat Rebate
Virginia Natural Gas offers a $50 rebate on the purchase and installation of a Wi–Fi–enabled smart thermostat.
Qualifications:
You must be a current residential customer of Nicor Gas at the time the project was completed. The product must be purchased new and installed from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, and replace an existing natural gas product used for the same purpose. Virginia Natural Gas – High-Efficiency Tankless Water Heater Rebate
Virginia Natural Gas offers a $150 rebate on the purchase and installation of a tankless natural gas water heater with a uniform energy factor of 0.87+ or a $300 rebate on the purchase and installation of a tankless natural gas water heater with a uniform energy factor of 0.95+.
Qualifications:
You must be a current residential customer of Nicor Gas at the time the project was completed. The product must be purchased new and installed from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, and replace an existing natural gas product used for the same purpose. Virginia Natural Gas – High-Efficiency Furnace Rebate
Virginia Natural Gas provides a $300 rebate toward the purchase and installation of a natural gas furnace with 90%–94.9% annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) or a $400 rebate toward the purchase and installation of a natural gas furnace with an AFUE of 95%–96.9% or a $500 rebate toward the purchase and installation of a natural gas furnace with an AFUE of 97% or greater.
Qualifications:
The rebate is available to active residential Virginia Natural Gas customers. The offer is good only on purchases for remodeling or renovation to preexisting homes, condominiums, or town houses in the Virginia Natural Gas service territory. The offer is not valid on new construction. All equipment purchased must be installed by a licensed contractor.

Virginia Natural Gas offers a $75 rebate on the purchase and installation of a tank–style natural gas water heater with a uniform energy factor of 0.68+ or a $150 rebate on the purchase and installation of a tank–style natural gas water heater with a uniform energy factor of 0.81+.
Qualifications:
You must be a current residential customer of Nicor Gas at the time the project was completed. The product must be purchased new and installed from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, and replace an existing natural gas product used for the same purpose.
